CONCEPT
ZANTER” is a domestic manufacturer specializing in down, and along with NANGA, there are very few manufacturers that can produce down in Japan, making it a highly rare and valuable item.
In 1951, when Japan was still under occupation shortly after the war. It was born as the first down wear manufacturer in Japan at the same time as the history of reconstruction started. The brand name “Zanter” was named after the image of a “mountain climber.
It is a pioneer of down wear in Japan.

In 1956, he was in charge of down equipment for the first Antarctic expedition, and has continued to support polar observation activities to the present day. 1973, the clothing goods division was spun off from Toyo Feather Industries, Ltd. and incorporated as Zantar Co.
In 1978, he was in charge of down equipment for Naoki Uemura, the first Japanese to reach the North Pole, following the Nihon University North Pole Expedition Team, which became the first Japanese expedition team to reach the North Pole alone.
The characteristic of Zanter Down is in the “down ball”.
Most duck down clothing on the market is made from down of medium chicks (around 45 days old) bred for meat.
This is because the meat of medium chicks is tender and tasty, making them ideal for eating, and the feathers are a by-product of that process.
However, the feathers are often still in the process of development!
The feathers that Xantar mainly uses come from ducks that have grown up to be over 90 days old in a natural rearing environment where local farmers release the chicks into the rice paddies after planting, feed them weeds and insects, and let them roam freely in the vast rice paddies until they become adults.
In other words, the main down used by Zanter has dense down feathers and a large down ball, which allows it to take in a lot of air with little loss of shape and excellent heat retention, resilience, and durability.
High refining technology
The quality of down depends on a series of refining techniques that remove impurities from the down collected from waterfowl, and then wash and sterilize the down. The down used mainly by Zanter is refined by Toyo Feather Industries, Ltd.
This is an inner down jacket made of recycled down.
Inner down jackets have become a well-established item in Japanese fall and winter wear.
The recycled down used by Zanter is re-cleaned through the same process as regular virgin down and has a bulkiness of 600FP+ for excellent heat retention.
The cuffs and hem have enough elastic to keep the silhouette intact and to keep warm air from escaping without creating gaps. It is a small device, but it is a detail that makes a big difference in the temperature you feel.
On chilly days, it can be quickly thrown on over a shirt or cut and sewn as a light outer layer. On colder days, it can be worn over a coat as a warm inner layer. This item can be worn in three seasons: fall, winter, and spring.

国内のダウン専業メーカー「ZANTER（ザンター）」。NANGA（ナンガ）と並んで国内でダウンを製造できるメーカーは非常に数少なく、希少価値の高いモノとなってございます。
1951年日本がまだ戦後まもなく占領下にあった頃。復興の歴史を刻み始めるのと時を同じくして、国内で最初のダウンウェアメーカーとして誕生。ブランド名のザンターは「山を登る人」をイメージして名づけられました。

1956年には第1次南極観測隊の羽毛装備を担当、現在に至るまで、極地での観測活動を支援。1973年、東洋羽毛工業株式会社よりウェアグッズ部門を分離独立し、「株式会社ザンター」として会社設立。1978年、日本人初の北極点到達を成し遂げた日大北極点遠征隊続いて単独で北極点到達を達成した植村直己の羽毛装備を担当などなど。
こちらはリサイクルダウンを使用したインナーダウンジャケットです。
インナーダウンジャケットは日本の秋冬の装いにすっかり定着したアイテムになりましたね。
ザンターが使用するリサイクルダウンは通常のバージン羽毛と同じ工程で再洗浄。６００ＦＰ+の嵩高で保温性も抜群です。
袖口と裾部には、シルエットを崩さない程度のゴムが入っていて、隙間を作らず温めた空気を逃しません。細かな工夫ですが、体感温度に大きな差を生むディテールです。
肌寒い日には、シャツやカットソーの上からさっと羽織って、軽やかなアウターとして。もっと寒い日にはその上からコートを羽織って、保温性の高いインナーとして。秋冬春と３シーズン着用できるアイテムです。
持ち運びに便利な収納袋付きも嬉しいポイントですね。
